Schorer supports partner organisations in developing and carrying out prevention programmes by:

• funding the programme
• contributing its expertise in the area of planned prevention
• facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience between partners.

Most partner organisations have had very little experience with HIV/STI prevention but nonetheless see it as their responsibility to take the lead in that area. For organisations that have already had some experience with HIV/STI prevention, the planned approach that Schorer promotes represents a new way of working.

For its part, Schorer uses the knowledge and experience of its international partners to strengthen the prevention of HIV and STI in the Netherlands. Schorer also works towards putting MSM and WSW on the agenda for policy makers, researchers and donor organisations worldwide.
